Why LeafFilter Doesn't Work (Usually)
LeafFilter has its strengths, and there’s no denying its popularity. We’re sure there are many houses where it quietly works as expected, in which case the homeowners never need to call us for a gutter-guard autopsy and a new gutter guard system that works.
Even though LeafFilter has its place in the world, we don’t recommend it, at least as a long-term gutter protection system. The reason is simple: we’ve just seen it keel over too many times, in situations where another gutter guard functions well and lasts longer.
In our experience, the main reason LeafFilter doesn’t work out is that it sits 100% inside of the gutter, rather than attaching under the first course of shingles. That leaves both a gap and a flat surface for debris to collect on. Eventually the debris clogs the rest of the gutter system, and water flows where it’s not supposed to.
At least that’s what we’ve seen over and over again. The videos below (a few of many) will show you how LeafFilter holds up under the punishment of Mother Nature and Father Time.
